Galena Cellars Winery
Galena Cellars Vineyard and Winery
Robert and Joyce Lawlor started making wine in the 1970’s in McGregor, Iowa. In 1978 the family opened a second winery in LaCrosse, WI. In 1985, the Lawlors opened the newly restored 1840’s granary building on Main Street in Galena. 5,000 gallons of wine were produced in the first year. By 1990, the family decided to focus production solely in Galena and closed the Iowa and Wisconsin wineries. It was at this time the Lawlors began growing experimental grapes just outside of Galena. In 2002 and again in 2008 Christine Lawlor-White was awarded the “Winemaker Of The Year” award by the Illinois Grape Growers and Vinters Association. In 2004 Galena Cellars opened a Tasting Room and Gift Shop in Galena.
Today, three generations of Lawlors invite you to experience Galena Cellars first hand. You can take a tour of the vineyard and visit the beautiful Vineyard Tasting Room and gift shop and sample Galena Cellar’s finest wines. You can even stay at the vineyard in a cozy guest suite above the tasting room or in the guest house.
